A large frustration was the lack of transparency provided by the built in Revit calculations. It was a difficult comparison to make as not all building properties and conditions could be set to be exactly equal and there were surely discrepancies in my manual take offs compared to the automatic take offs used by Revit. I have spent some time comparing the built in Revit load software and that which we use here in the office. It would be interesting to know in what purpose you guys use the tool and also some reflections of what I'm writing here. rather than delivering dependable results to use when dimensioning your system. It seems to me as the "heating and cooling loads analysis" in Revit MEP is more suitable for making comparisons of the impact when changing stuff like orientation or amount of glass area etc. In order to be able to ensure the quality in the calculations I am responsible for this is a major feature of importance. It's a pity since Revit has the qualifications to really ease this process.Ī desirable function would be to be able to at least overview the actual calculation process in order to know how the program takes the different parameters into consideration and which are left out etc. These kind of limitiations substantially reduces the usefulness of this tool in the HVAC design process. Total cooling load of auditorium is calculated by CLTD method and results are validated with Hourly analysis program (HAP) and Trace 700 software.After some headache sorting through the ASHRAE RTS (radiant time series), some questions arose:ġ. The design of Auditorium is developed by AutoCAD software. In this study we explained CLTD method to calculate cooling load of an auditorium. Cooling Load Temperature Difference (CLTD), Radiant Time Series (RTS) and Total equivalent temperature difference (TEDF) are different methods to calculate the total cooling load. To install air conditioning system for comfortable environment it is mandatory to estimate the total cooling load of building. The necessity of design of such system is increasing day by day. Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system is required to provide comfort conditions such as humidity, temperature and other environment parameters for occupants and machines.
